So when I was learning about Wonder Under by Pellon they said that you can use it on paper, wood and cardboard.
That got me kind of excited to try something out! I’m always sewing little baskets to hold things around the house but what if you need something quick with more sturdy sides?
So I grabbed a little box, some cute fabric, and Wonder Under!
To keep it quick all I did was a simple cut of fabric about 2” taller than the box sides. Repeat this so you have a piece cut for each side of the box. It’s good to have the front and back be about an inch wider on both sides.
Next lay these out on your wonder under and cut matching pieces.
Iron the fabric wrong side down onto the textured side of the wonder under to glue them together. Leave the paper on!
Once that’s done you can peel the paper off and you’re left with fabric that has iron on adhesive attached.
Now drape it over your box and use your iron to fuse the fabric to the box! I left some overhang at top and bottom to fuse under for a neater look.
Then take your front and back and press the front so it sticks to the box but leave the overhang alone. Snip to the corner of the box so you can create a tidy mitre.
Fold that point down first and fuse, then wrap the sides around.
So nice and neat!
I stuck a faux plant in mine to dress up an empty spot on my bookshelf!
There’s about 10 more things I can think of around here that could use a sweet little fabric covered box. Hope you make some too, it’s a great way to show off your favourite prints!
